How to Program Your Chevy’s HomeLink® System

If you want to take advantage of the HomeLink® system, just make sure your transmitter has fresh batteries, and you’re ready to go. We recommend reading through the instructions a few times to get the timing right and then giving it a try. If you run into any issues, just contact us our service center for advice.

  1. Start the ignition on your Chevy.
  2. Look for the three HomeLink® buttons inside the cabin. Check above the center console or close to the rearview mirror.
  3. Press and hold the first and third buttons of your HomeLink® system for up to 20 seconds. The lights should begin to flash.
  4. Choose which HomeLink® button will pair with your garage door opener. Press and hold that button while holding the “Open” button on your garage door remote.
  5. The HomeLink® indicator light will go from slow flashing to rapid flashing, which means the two devices are now connected.
  6. When the indicator light stops flashing and turns solid, your programming is complete!

What If HomeLink® Indicator Keeps Flashing?

For most Llano and Copperas Cove drivers, the programming instructions described above will do the trick. But, if your HomeLink® indicator won’t stop flashing, this means that your garage door uses a rolling code system instead.

If that happens, here’s what to do:

  1. Look for the “Learn Code” button on the unit inside the garage. Usually, it’s located under the light cover on the rear panel.
  2. Press and hold the “Learn Code” button until the red LED starts to blink. This starts a 30-second timer.
  3. When the LED is blinking, get into your car, and press the HomeLink® button 4 times until the garage door responds.
  4. Now, your garage door opener is fully programmed!
