Are All 6 Chevy Lug Patterns the Same?

Chevy Silverado Rim

From time to time, you may need to get the wheels on your new or pre-owned Chevy vehicle replaced. If this ever happens to you, it’s important that you know your vehicle’s proper lug bolt pattern, so you don’t accidentally buy the wrong wheels! Every vehicle’s wheels have a particular lug bolt pattern–that’s the ring of lug bolts at the very center of the wheel. You’ve probably seen them before, but not many Marble Falls drivers know a lot about how they work. Fortunately, the service team at Jim Hoffpauir, Inc. is here to help! Read on for some helpful information about the Chevy 6 lug bolt pattern, and feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

What is the Chevy 6 Lug Bolt Pattern?

The majority of Chevy trucks and SUVs use what’s called a “6-lug bolt pattern.” Let’s start with answering the basic question “what is the bolt pattern for a Chevy 6 lug?” As we discussed above, your vehicle’s bolt pattern refers to the layout of the mounting holes for your wheel lugs. A 6-lug bolt pattern means that there are 6 lug nuts forming a ring around the center of your wheel. The purpose of a lug nut is to attach the wheel hub to the rest of the axle, and it’s generally made of chrome-plated steel or anodized aluminum.

Knowing how many lug nuts are is only half the story, though. You also have to know the diameter of the wheel lug circle, which is usually expressed either in millimeters or inches. For example, a bolt pattern with the designation 6-100 mm means that there are six lug nuts that form a circle with a 100 mm diameter. You can easily measure your wheel lug circle with a measuring tape or ruler, or you can bring your vehicle in, and we can measure it for you!

Fortunately, most automakers use the same pattern for their vehicles. While you should still confirm your Chevy’s exact lug bolt pattern with a service member at Jim Hoffpauir, Inc., Chevy generally uses the same 6-lug bolt pattern for all of their trucks and SUVs.
